Owens’ 10 Kills, 17 Digs in Hometown Help Chargers Pick Up Sweep at Lincoln

Josalyn Owens (Lincoln) had a strong performance in her hometown as the Carl Sandburg College volleyball team rolled to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-13 sweep at Lincoln on Wednesday evening.
The Lincoln native had 10 kills and a team-leading 17 digs to lead the Chargers (11-4) to their second victory in as many nights, third straight win overall and their 10th sweep of the season.
Peyton Bowman (West Prairie) had a team-best 11 kills, and Hannah Thompson (West Prairie) added nine kills and 10 digs for Sandburg. Cora Vyhnanek (West Prairie) had 34 assists, 13 digs and two aces from her setter position, and libero Haley Stevenson (Galesburg) had 16 digs for the Chargers.
Sandburg will spend the weekend at the Waubonsee Tournament, playing two matches Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Sugar Grove.
